Hi,
I am using win95b On my Tyan Trinity AT k62-400 and it
appears the OS does support usb. In device manager under other devices I see "Via tech Pci to usb univ. Host Controller" . Its properties says the device is working properly and the resource tab shows no conflict.
I also picked up a Belkin USB adapter that had instructions poorly written.Luckily, my motherboard manual shows the end of the usb header thats pin #1 ...the red side of the adapter cable should line up with this pin #1 on the usb header..?? I want to make sure this system and OS will work with USB devices before I buy one.

Any suggestions would be appreciated...
Breeze :)

You can't really be sure it will work, do what jeremy said, and it should work, but be warned Win95B's USB support is flaky...I upgrade from 95B to 98SE and consider it money well spent. But you should be fine.

As for the stuff about Pin1 nonesense don't worry about it...USB is dead simple to install, you plug it in, it can be chained off another device or installed into a root hub port, or you can get a hub..you can have like 127USB devices on each root hub (and most mobos have 2 hubs) just plug it in, you can't reverse the cable, it won't fit backwards....
it's easy, just do what jeremy said and USB should work fine.

I tried to run usb from the win95b cd and scan disk came on and was trying to scan files. After 10 mins there was no change in the scan bar as if locked up . I ran the usb.exe from the hard drive same thing.
I then tried the link to compren and when I tried to download I got a loggin error?? Finally went to winfiles.com and downloaded oemusb.exe it loaded and added a USB suport line in my add and remove program listing...In device manager other devices still has The usb univ host listed in a yellow-?- . Its properties list it as working fine....as before.
Any suggestions? Or is this as far as I will be able to take
USB support on this OS?
Thanks. Breeze

Just ran a USB intel test utility and it showed that the usb driver is not operating correctly...Is this because I currently have no USB devices plugged in at this time???

Goto task mangager and kill everything except explorer, then run the usbsupp.exe file. The scan will go much quicker.
