Im having an odd issue with a machine that is running win7, what is happening is that you hear the remove hardware sound / add hardware sound, but there is nothing that has been added or removed.

Is there a way to log the added / removed hardware, as I cannot see anything in the device manager as it happens to fast

I had checked event viewer but nothing shows up that i can see. hence wondering if there is a way to log it

have no devices plugged in expect for the monitor

speakers are built into the machine, its an hp 6000 pro, odd thing is it only happening to this one, and i have 15 others exact same config.

If you plug in a USB drive, you should see that it creates 3 entries in the system log (on mine at least). You don't see anything there?

the keyboard and mouse are usb as well, wireless usb reciever, but even with that unplugged it still gives me that same noise.

but i think I have narrowed it down, gave me a couple of blue screens which indicated the video driver, now got to see if its a driver issue or hardware.
