Win7 not seeing network computer and WHS

For some reason I can no longer see my WHS in Win 7. I also can't see some of my other network computers. I am on a work network, so I should be able to see Win7 and XP computers but I am not even seeing all my Win 7 computers. I can disable firewalls and Norton and still no change.

Win7 has the most disfunctional network interface I have ever seen. You have to go through some stupid wizard that never gives you the options you need.

How do I manually add a network place that win7 chooses to ignore? I can temporarily add my shared folders but I have to open the WHS console and click on the hyperlink. Just the other day these folders were under Network and now they are gone. This is a frigging nightmare. Is there a real network interface that make sense and gives you options to see all network machines and folders without having to go through some convoluted BS that does not even work.

This was all working and now it is not. This seems to be happening on my LAN and the WiFi network.

Ok I can right click compter and add a network place and the target machine will show up temporarily in network but it quickly forgets that location. It will map out a specific shared folder and put that under computer but then it forgets that device in network. All my computers are doing this. It must be the result of some sort of patch.

Any ideas?
