Win7: Blue screen code?

JEDI

Lifer
i built this computer a year ago. today, i got my 1st blue screen.

it flashed on my monitor too quickly, so i couldnt see the error code.

i checked the dump file and it was 475megs?!

for giggles, i tried opening it in both Notepad and Word.
both times Win7 said i dont have permission to open it?! (i'm logged in as admin.) WTF?

anyway, so how do i retrieve the blue screen code to figure out why my machine crashed?

Click Start, type Advanced in the search box, then click on "View advanced system settings". Under Startup and Recovery click the Settings button, under System failure uncheck Automatically restart, then reboot the computer. When it BSODs again the blue screen will now stay open until you choose to restart the computer, giving you ample time to write down Stop error code. You can also check in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Custom Views > Administrative Events for critical errors. Post the Stop error code if it BSODs again and we'll go from there.
