Win2ksp2 troubles with Direct3d

I just installed this new service pack for win2000 pro. and every game that i have that utilizes direct3d makes my computer get the blue-screen-of-death saying 'physical memory dump'. really bugging me cuz i didnt check the stupid box so i could uninstall sp2, so i'm stuck with it w/o reformatting...

please post your specs for your system; as well as dx8 version #. perhaps your dx8 is in need of an update.
