Win2k Upgraded to XP -- Problems Inside!

Hey all, just did the upgrade from 2k and I've run into some really annoying
problems. Any and all help is appreciated..... I've spent hours on the
support database to no avail.

1) There is no paging file being used, I've tried setting it automatically,
setting it with a user file and installing the intel application accelerater
from the MS web site, but I still can't get XP to load up a paging file.
It doesn't matter what drive I tell it to use either.... it just always says
"current size 0mb".

2) <problem solved>

3) When I click on "my computer" it sits there and "searches for items" for
probably 10 minutes, and then loads the contents. Same thing in File
Explorer. May be related to #4.

4) When i type an address into the address bar it sits there and the little
icon moves for about 5 minutes and then it loads up the web site. If I type
the website into the start | run... box, it loads up instantly.

Thanks in response for any answers that I get.

Yours,
rob.

I'm not sure about the MyComputer bit, but since Explorer is a part of it, repairing Internet Explorer might help. It should help with the browser thing. If that doesn't work, try reverting the browser to a previous version (if you've updated it at all, you'll be able to. Otherwise, update IE 😛)

If you need instructions on how to repair/revert IE, check here.

I don't have "Microsft Internet Explorer" on my add/remove programs list. Its just not there. I also did a complete reinstall of Windows XP and I still have the same problem.
