win2k take very long time to browse network.

when i try to browse Computers Near Me, it would take a good 30 seconds or so before it shows the contents. i have tcp/ip and netbui installed as protocols. the other computer on the network thats running XP on a lowly 350mhz opens up the network contents almost instantly. the XP machine has netbui installed as well. is there a setting on win2k that allows for faster opening of network places? thanks

ps, the 2 machines are connected through an old 3com Home Ethernet Gateway router.

I remember a known bug in thier directory browsing that was mentioned in the summer of I think 2002. It had something to with the browser trying to cache anything in the directory. I would suggest doing a search on microsofts website for something like this. There was a registry fix you could apply if I remember correctly.
