I just installed winTV usb in win2k. However, it seems that if I try to open another program or
generally it works, but sometime just randomly I get the blue screen of death with a stop error. It also says "beginning physical dump of memory" or something like that? Does anyone know what possibly could be causing this? I have i have 128mb of ram so dont think it could be the ram> any suggestions?
thanks

I know that you aren't alone my win2k machine has crashed twice in 6+ months. then I installed wintv usb and yikes I would crash 1 or more times per day using wintv usb. I usually crashed when I tried to move the screen. Just have to live without wintv for me. :)

I have you're fix dude ;) I emailed Hauppage about that same problem in Win2k with my KX133 board, and they sent me a beta driver download to use.

Fixed the problem. Give me a sec, and I'll put it up on my site.

Here you go along with the instructions they gave me:

If you're getting a blue screen that lists the following error, "a wait
operation attach process or yield was attempted by a DPC routine", followed
by a memory dump, then this is a known problem under Windows 2000. In this
case, I've attached a beta driver for you to try.

If you're interested in trying it, you'll want to first completely uninstall
the current WinTV driver and application software in the following manner:
First run HCWCLEAR.exe. Be sure to select "total removal" and search all INF
files". Once the black DOS window has disappeared, go to START / SETTINGS /
CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / HARDWARE tab and click the DEVICE MANAGER button.
Scan the list of devices for any large YELLOW QUESTION MARK icons with the
listing OTHER DEVICES. Double-click this icon to view the devices in this
category. If you have any of these devices listed, you'll want to remove
them by individually right-clicking on them and selecting UNINSTALL from the
pop up menu that appears. Also in this list, double-click SOUND, VIDEO AND
GAME CONTROLLERS and remove anything that mentions HAUPPAUGE WINTV. Also
check under the UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS section for any UNKNOWN USB
devices and remove them too.

Next, go to ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and remove anything that mentions HAUPPAUGE
or WINTV. Then go to START / SEARCH / FOR FILES OR FOLDERS. LOOK IN the C:
drive and be sure to INCLUDE SUBFOLDERS for the following entries in the
NAMED category:

nuvision*.*

wintv*.*

hcw*.*

Delete any entries that are found by the search with the exception of
HCWCLEAR.EXE (the clear program) and WINTV221.EXE (the application software
you'll need to run).

Once this is done, you can run the attached USB98-2K.exe and then the
WinTV221.exe that you'd previously downloaded from the web. If you don't
have it anymore, it can be found here:

http://www.hauppauge.com/html/sw_tvusb.htm

...under the heading, "WinTV-2000 and WinTV32 application version 2.21.

Hopefully this will solve the problem you are experiencing. If not, let me
know. Also, any feedback that you can supply on this beta would be much
appreciated. Thanks!
