Win2k, so many devices sharing one IRQ

Why is this? Even when I muck around in the CMOS to assign IRQ's manually, windows will boot up and show the same devices all sharing one IRQ (five of them are on IRQ 7 including my video, motherboard onboard audio and USB controller).

It's a windows 2K thing, and it shouldn't cause any problems. Are you experienceing trouble, or did you just notice it and wonder what was going on???

No apparent problems. Just noticed it. It doesn't make sense because there are IRQ's not even being used.

Yeah....when I first installed 2K I thought there was a problem.....just 'cause of the assignments....but that's the way Win2K does it!!!

Well it's not just a windows thing it is actually called ACPI (Advanced Configuration & Power Interface)

Here is a brief overview of what it is and means ACPI @ M$
