win2k shut down problem

hi, i had just fresh install win2k for the first time. and i notice that my computer will not soft off itself after i shut down the win2k. i rather have to press the start power botton for 4 sec to shut it's fans down or i have to unplug it from the jack. i am using Asus P2B with P2 450 and 256meg of memory. and the problem wasnt there when i was using window 98(first edition). please help, thank you.

You might have to go into BIOS and select User define option - or whatever choice in you BIOS give the OS control over power management.

Actually, you have to go to the control panel 'power options' and click on the APM tab. Check off the box within the APM tab and you should be all set.

sounds like you lost your apm. i've done that too. i'm sure there's a way to get it back without formatting, but fdisk always works for me.
