Hi all,
Implementing a Windows 2000 Server using Active Directory. I have the server set up, with DNS enabled, Active Dir up and running, users created (in nice little organized OU's) and such...My problem is that when I join a system to the domain, Outlook Express won't run for anyone on their local machines unless they have Administrator rights, it says the Identity is missing (It's not, but it appears Win2k is denying access to those folders) and if I try to create a new one as an ordinary domain user just to import settings, it fails (likely due to security issues). I expected to have to re-import their settings from their old profiles (all workstations are running XP Pro, not my choice compared to Win2k, but it's not my choice to make) or to be able to copy their local profiles out to roaming profile directories on the server. Even if I do this, logging in as a Domain User account means that Outlook Express will report that all its Identities are missing. Is there something I can fiddle with in the local or server policies or security templates? We all know I don't want every user to be an administrator.
P.S. There may also be profile problems, as when a domain user is logged in, it doesn't keep their background bitmaps, and it restricts a number of options I never customized myself. I have a couple of minor Group Policy settings in place (login script, home folder, document redirection) but no security changes have been made. At any rate, the Outlook Express problem happens whether or not I have a profile path set up for the user. Any help would be appreciated.
