Is there a way to automate the runas.... command in win2k so that i don't have to enter a password everytime? I have a few programs that will not work unless they are run as administrator, and so, I changed those shortcuts to runas administrator, but each time it pops up the dialog box for the password, etc. is there a way to make it so it just automatically runs it or something? thanks!

bump for you... As I am also curious.

I would like to be able to defrag a users system without logging on as an admin. In fact, I have not even been able to use "Run as" to get this to work.

No way to avoid the password screen - there is no option to enter it on the command line along with the user (for obvious reason: it would be clear text viewable by anyone). I've found quite a few programs that won't open using runas - I just tried the defragger and got the same result (window closes with no action).

Log in as Admin first, then

Go to the root folder of the apps you cannot run.
Right click and pull up the property sheet
Select Security tab
Add your user account to the list
Give that account everything but full control permission.
Allow this to propogate down the hierarchy of that app.
Problem solved

saltin, would that work for things like nero? thats one of the big ones of mine, where it needs admin priviledges to use the burner...and i've found that some games, like nhl2k2 don't work right for me unless i run it as admin.....it'd be nice if there was just something, like if you allowed the shortcut to remember the password or settings or something...in wonder if xp solves any of this?
