Win2k, really slow on my centrino laptop.

Booting up, shutting down, hibernation, are really slow on my centrino laptop running Win2k SP4.

I got a friend with a 2ghz celeron laptop with 256megs of ram and his hibernation takes less then 10seconds to get in and out of. Sometimes mine can take a minute or two. And shutting down takes 2-3min.

I did a fresh install of win2k when I got my laptop about a week ago. I installed all the updated drivers for the chipset and hardware.

Any idea's? I don't have WinXp, and I dont' really like it, I'd like to stick with win2k.

Specs:
Eurocom M350C
1.4ghz Pentium-M
256megs of ram
40gig hard drive

sometimes win2k puts your hdd using pio transfers instead of dma.
check it out in device manager.

I had already checked that, good call though.
