Win2k Problems - Safe mode Options

Testing out a Hauppage TV card on my test rig which uses Win2k w/SP4

Everything was working fine for a few weeks and today..
BAM.... On boot up, video is all garbage...(Got ATI 8500 & Directx9.0c)
Looked like the video drivers got corrupted....

Rebooted, hit F8 to get into SAFE Mode
(figured I could change to standard VGA and reload ATI drivers.)
All I got was a listing of drives and the option to select the drive to boot from
I did not get the Option to boot into safe mode or anything else.

Looks like I am screwed and have to reformat...no big deal now
But, what hapened to the option to boot into safe mode ???

(I don't make repair floppies)
