Win2K Problem

My wife stated to use the computer, all I did is move my computer to anothe room, and this is the situation. My system will not start up and because this file is missing or corrupt. The error message is as follows "Windows 2000>system32/ntoskrnl.exe" This is as close as message read. Can the coping be done in DOS with the copy coming from Win2k CD.
 
If you have important data that you need to retrive, I highly recomend to save it before making any changes or trying to repair the system. If you have an extra hard drive arround with an operating system that you can use as the master and the bad drive as the slave, you could save your data and then try to fix the thing. If you screw up then, you won't be sorry later.

It is just my opinion, I have never been able to repair systems when the get corrupted like that and end up reformating and reloading the OS. Just did this last night as a matter of fact.
 
Me too The system asked for a password, which I never had, and would'nt let me enter. It is starting to look futile.
 
win2k has a bootup option that allows you to boot with the last working configuration. hit f8 when it says "starting windows" and select. if this doesn't work you are probably talking about a repair or reinstall of w2k. good luck
 
The password should be blank if you never used one when you installed 2000. If not try several common passwords that uninitiated users use. Think and you should come up with a list, I won't post them. Google is your friend
