here is what i want to do -> on the desktop, all the shortcuts have a title under them, when you put a pic as the background, there is now a blocked out area containing all the titles, with a different color than the pic. in xp there is no blocked area, it is transparent, and you can put whatever you want as the backgroud without the blocky titles from the shortcuts. is there any way to do this in win2kpro?

Pretty sure you need a third party util for that under 2k.

Try searching download.com, there are a bunch.
