Win2k Pro and IIS 5(or other software)

My friend has win2k pro, and wants to set her box as a web server. I have tried to find IIS to download, but I have been unable to find it. Is IIS only valid/useable for win2k server? If not, could someone point me to a site to download it? Otherwise, could someone recommend software similar to IIS that could run a server(besides linux 🙂

Thanks in advanced

Simply pop in the Win2K Pro disc, and then goto Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel, then goto the Add Windows Component (or something like that, not at my Win2K box right now) and then select IIS, install, and there ya have it. IIS 5.0

Iuse Sambar and Savant for webservers...Sambar is easier to configure and also free. Goto tucows and checkout the Win2K software section. They have a boatload of webservers there.

DOH!!!! Thanks Tharyn! I didn't realize that it was simply that easy. My friend and I aren't too familiar with win2k, but she better become proficient fast.

Thanks again

IIS 5.0 is available only for Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server and Datacenter Server editions. It will not install on Windows 2000 Professional. I'm not sure if Microsoft's ne'er-do-well lightweight httpd -- the erstwhile "Personal Web Server" -- is available in any incarnation for Windows 2000 Professional.
