I've been using a custom Win2k install with sp3 slipstreamed for a while now and its very good. However, it would be great to be able to put it on a DVD and use the extra space for all the other apps and utils I need to install each time. Is it possible to do this?

Well, the process theoretically shouldn't be any different than creating a bootable CD (I think...).

Exactly how many other apps do you need to install? Windows setup CDs only use 300-400MB of the CD - that leaves a lot of room for other stuff.

do you plan on using this disc on other machines too? If NOT then i would just ghost a huge install with all your apps and then save that ghost image to DVD with ghost.exe and boot info. Much faster to recover a full install than go through a a windows install and then drivers and then programs.

Or you could use sysprep and have a bootable image for all of your systems. :)

Well even with a DVD at 4.7 GB I would need 2 discs to Ghost my partition. And it would still be nice to be able to setup a new system and only need to bring 1 disc with you. I was thinking of using the unattended install features of win2k where you can create a -diff file comparing a bare win2k install and your current setup. Then it is just a matter of popping in the DVD, rebooting, and voila a bit later you are done. It gives you the flexibility to do a clean install on a new motherboard/CPU/whatever and still have all your setttings and installed programs intact.
