Why is it that when I attempt to look at my win2k machine over the lan with my win98 machine is can see it in the workgroup, but ask for a password.
I have never set one. Or is there a way of finding this out.
Win2k will always require a username and password for another machine to access it. You need to put in a username and password that is a valid logon on the win2k machine.
You can also setup a username and password on the win2k machine specifically for the win98 machine. Make the username the "computer name" of your win98 box, and make up a password
