Win2k & Modem problem

I have a 56k external modem and I'm running Win2k. If I start Win2k when the modem isn't on, Win2k states that the modem isn't attached to the computer and refuses to dial-up. So if I want to connect to the net I have to restart the computer with the modem on so that Win2k knows that it is attached.

It gets frustrating having to restart the computer every time I want to connect to the net.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

what modem do you have? do you have the latest drivers? .. why not just leave it on all the time? ..

Try opening device manager and scan for hardware changes.
