Win2k log in

I have two accounts that can log in to my laptop. One is me, the admin. When the log in screen comes up, the user name and password have to be typed in. How do I set it up so the user names are already there, and you just use a pull down menu to select and then just type in the password? In the users and passwords control panel, all I see is a box to check that says users must enter a name and password. If I uncheck it, it automatically assumes the admin wants to log in each time. Any help?

Local security policy.

Thanks...could you elaborate just a little bit more? I know how to access the local security policy, but searchin for the right setting...

Start->settings->control panel->admin tools->local security policy->local policies->security options->do not display name of user who last logged in. But if it?s joined to a domain, group policy will override local policy.

hmm, all that seems to do if enabled is keep the username field black at log in instead of displaying the name of the last user who logged on.

What I want is a pull down menu to select either name, then type the password.

I am pretty certain you cannot have a drop down box listing users at the log in. There might be such an animal, but I haven't seen or heard of it.

Any particular reason why you want a drop down box of users?

Win2K will never do a drop down box for selection of user names as it's somewhat insecure. The name of the last user to log on should stay by default, but I'm afraid that's the best you're going to get...

How hard is it to type "administrator" anyway?

It's not, I'm just lazy and used to WinXP. My wife has the other account so it's not a security issue, just a convenience issue.

or, you could just rename the administrator account so it's something smaller like admin, root, main, etc...makes it easier to type at least.

2 accounts: man and woman. Make her type more.

EDIT: I guess you can do a "his" and "hers" or "him" and "her" if you want to cut down on the typing for everyone.
