Hi, I was curious if anyone knows the answer to this:
My system:
win2k,
Duron 800, *(Not OC'd)
Abit KT7-Raid (with no raid drives setup mind you),
256MB,
GEforce2mx 32MB AGP
Bigfoot 19.2GB, Maxtor 13GB [2 partitions, 1.5 for OS, and a 11.5 for games/apps etc],
8x4 cdr (yeah stoneage
Diamond MX300 sc
At first my system was pretty stable once I got around the headache of configuring my MX300 to work properly under 2k, now (about 4 months later) when I leave my system on with a screensaver, about 2-3 hours later I'll come back and it will have locked up, the reset switch being the only way to fix it. It never locks up during use, gaming or otherwise, only while idle.
My system is regularly defragged and maintained. My question is: Is there any way to solve this> Will an upgrade to XP provide me with the same compatability nightmares that came with 2k and my MX300? Or is XP more compatible for older hardware such as the MX300?
If I can avoid an upgrade to XP, it'd be easier, but I'm willing to go to XP if it solves the lockup issue. A reinstall of Win2k isn't really an idea since setting up my hardware with it proved to be a long, arduous task.
Thanks for any help,
Circuitbc
