ok. I did not get much response to my last post so I will try a different question. I have 4 IDE channels (2 Regular IDE, 2 Promise controller) and I have 3 HD's, 1 CD, and 1 CDRW. I want to Dual boot with Win2k on one HD, Linux on another HD, and the 3rd HD as a data drive.
I have always had drives on seperate channels before I got the new drive for the Linux install, but that is obviously no longer possible. So the question is, how should I place the drives on the cables? Should the 2 OS drives be on the same channel? 1 OS and the data on the same channel? Which drives should be master and which slave?
I am interested because I cannot get this configuration to boot after both OS's are installed and I am thinking it might be because of this issue. Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
