Does W2k checks what kind of processor you have during installation ? Is FPU needed to run it ? I just want to install W2k PRO into 486SX/33 to see is it really so stable and fast as everybody are saying (I'm not kidding!!!).

There's no chance that win2k will run on a 486SX/33, so don't even bother with it...

Guess I need a DX processor ? Anyway, does the OS checks Cpuid or sth ? I may install it in some other machine and then just put that hdd into 486. I really want to know how much time it takes to boot into W2k on 486.

Priit, I seriously doubt that Win2K Pro's install program will even try to install onto a machine with just a 486SX/33 processor. I know that Win98's install will refuse to install onto a 33MHz 486. It will tell you that you must have a 66MHz 486 processor or better for Win98. Win2K's requirements are higher than Win98's, so you know it won't work.

Well, windoze checks CPU during the installation, but does it run when the installation is made on some other computer ? I can ged 486DX processor, too, so there should be no major difference from Pentium (FPU is presented). How much RAM is an absolute minimum for booting W2k ?
