Win2k install problem (*fixed thanks*)

Just did a clean install of Win98SE now I'm trying to install Win 2000 Pro on it's own partition of the same drive, when I put the dis in the drive it says that it's a newer version of windows then is currently installed and would I like to upgrade, when I say yes it says that it can't detect which OS is currently installed on my PC and exits the install.
Anyone have any idea why 2K can see the 98SE when I first boot the disc but then can't see it when it starts the install?
Weird thing is I popped in my XP disc and it has no problem identifying Win98SE and starts the install of itself.
My HDD has four partitions, one Win98SE and three more, all FAT.
Thanks.

doh! Thanks for the help! Booting off the CD is what I went brain dead about,... XP you can just put in the CD and go, when you try that with 2000 it simply gives you the option to upgrade the current install. Why it says it can't tell what OS is on my machine I don't know, but no problems booting from the CD and installing. Thanks again.
