win2k+ics+lan woes

My config:

server running win2k, has 2 nics, 1 connection going to dsl modem & 1 connection going to hub.
wan ip (to dsl) info is normal isp-assigned static ip, gateway, dns, etc -- ics enabled
lan ip (to hub) is 192.168.0.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0.

client is another win2k box with 1 nic card, connection going to hub
ip: server assigned. I entered in my isp's dns ip, but I've tried that as server assigned too and same results.

Problems:
1) I can ping from server to client, but not client to server (ping 192.168.0.1 gives Request Timeout). When I ping from either machine my hub lights flash accordingly (as expected)
2) (follows from 1) client doesn't seem know anything about the local network - but i can search for my server's machine name in "find computer" and it pops up - but I can't do anything with the server computer. Windows just knows it exists.

I just can't figure this out. It should work! Anyone have any ideas? It looks like my client is an idiot.

Did you make sure the client was set to recieve an IP address from the DHCP server? Basically, on the client, all the tcp/ip settings should be blank or set to get the info from the server. If this doesn't work, try making the ICS config disk and running it on the client.

client gets all ip settings via dhcp. I enterd in the dns ip, but that shouldn't be a problem that prevents me from pinging the server over the lan.
