Win2k Hive error? BSOD?!

kind-of-blue

Senior member
Weirdest think happened this a.m. Dual booted into win2k and got a BSOD. Said there was a problem with a hive file, whatever that is. Rebooted and tried again, same thing. Rebooted into win98 and Norton anti-virus unwittingly repaired boot sector, now I can't even dual boot back to the BSOD in Win2k although Win98se works fine.

Question 1) How do I get the dual boot back without a Win2k reinstall, and 2)what the hell is a hive file?

Running P3800 on MSI Bx-master
128mg cas 2 PC133 RAM
Matrox G400DH
Maxtor 30g 7200 HD

Help is as always, greatly appreciated.

boot from the installation cd and choose the repair option... have your emergency repair disk handy...

Thanks, will do.

I thought the 'hive' part was an inadvertant method for announcing micro$ofts true allegence to the prince of darkness.
