Win2k folder view tweaking help

Ok, I have thoroughly enjoyed my migration to Win2k. There is just one small little annoying thing bothering me.

I like to view my icons in Windows Explorer as 'list' but when I open a window I like to view large icons. Win98SE would let me set Windows Explorer view to 'list' and when opening just a window (like a folder on the desktop or My Computer) I could set the view to 'large icons' without affecting each other.

When I try changing the view settings in Win2k, it changes the view setting in both Windows Explorer and in plain windows. Is there any way to change this? I know it's a long-shot, but I have to ask.

Thanks.

set one folder th way you want the majority of them to be...then open folder options and set all folders like current folders. also check off the optionto remember each folders settings, then customize the folders you want.

Check to see if the option is enabled. Open a older Goto Tools>Folder Options>Click the 'View' tab and make sure that "Remember each folder's view settings" is checked. If that doesn't do the trick check Tweak UI's settings under the Explorer Tab and see if "Save Explorer window settings" is checked. If you need TweakUI go here.

Does TweakUI work with Win2k? Has anyone had any issues with it under Win2k?

It sounds like that "Save Explorer windows settings" is what I need. I already know about the setting all folders to current folders and I know what remember each folders view settings does. It doesn't work the same in Win2k as it does in Win98SE.

i never figured out how to get windows explorer to look how i wanted without affecting any other folders in win2k or winme. for example, in 98se i could just set windows explorer to display a list and any other folders wouldn't be affected. regardless of setting all folders to look the same as the current one in win2k, changing explorer to display in a list changes every single window like control panel, etc. so this isn't really a helpful post but just me sharing i have the same prob as you.

Brazen- Yes, Tweak UI does work under WIN2K and the current version is 1.33. I have run it through the mill on my system and found NO issues at all. It easily does all the things I used to have to pick through the registry in WIN98 to modify.
