Hi guys,
Well I've done it this time, I have deleted system files and can't boot windows.
Have tried to repair using recovery console and ERD. The ERD can't copy all the system files from the source CD.(Have tried 2 CD's and 2 drives) It gets to 96% and then won't copy any more.
Then it says it can't repair registry and it's all over.
Have run Fixboot and fixmbr commands from the console and now I can boot to the first stage of windows
(the first bar graph across the bottom) but it tells me that the system32 files are missing and I can't boot.
Last known good config and safe mode are no good either.

Can anyone tell me how to restore these files without re-installing Windows because I understand this will delete my apps. and folders etc.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

You can reinstall Win2k in the same folder and not loose any files or apps. Though most of them will probably have to be reinstalled also.

According to setup, it will remove any apps, files or folders, if you're sure you can do it, I guess it's OK.
I just installed Win2k on another partition so I could copy all my stuff over, but I had it encrypted and I can't access it from this installation.

Life as I know it won't end if I can't recover this system, but it would sure save me some headaches if I could.
