Win2k Dead?

My win2k box is connected with a network card to a hub and then through a cable modem. I unplugged the cable modem and hub (while cleaning) and did not shutoff win2k. After I plugged the cable modem and hub back on win2k would not access the interenet anymore. My win98 box has not problem. When I load internet explorer it says "Work Offline" or "Try Again". "Try Again" doesn't work so I tried to reinstall all of the network protocols, and network card in the network settings. Same thing. Anyone know why you can't leave win2k turned on and unplug the hub or cable modem? Does anyone know how to fix this? What should I do? Any help is much appreciated. Thank's

You should double check your settings. I unplug my cable modem all the time & w2k knows it too because a little info box pops open that says network cable unplugged.

I had the exact same problem with my system..
I had to replace my NIC card (the card wasn't defective).
I'm not sure why, but for some reason, replacing the card seems to solve the problem.
