Win2k Computer Management system info died

On Win2KSP2, when logged in as Administrator and running Computer Management (compmgmt.msc) under Administration Tools, any of the system information folders when selected displays the following message in the view pane: "Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software. Windows Management files may be moved or missing. Contact your System Adminstrator..." Well, I am the system administrator. I know of nothing that would have moved system files so I can only assume something has become corrupted. The other parts of Computer Management work ok. I have a second (older) machine running Win2k that works fine and is very similar in all respects to the one that doesn't. They are networked together. If I knew what system files (Instrumentation software??) were used by System Information, perhaps I could just copy them from the working machine (unless it is a registry problem). Ideas? 😕
