Win2K cannot open Win98 shared drives

I just installed Win2k Prof onto one machine on my LAN. The other machines are Win98; they can "see" and open shared folders on my Win2k machine; my Win2K can "see" the presence of the Win98 machines but cannot ping them and cannot open shared files on the Win98 machines. Yet both Win98 machines can see each other and can open files on each other's machines. What am I doing wrong?? ( I have TCP/IP, IPX, NetBIOS installed on the Win98 machines and on Win2k as well). Thanks,
