Win2K campus networking question... (dropbox)

On the network, when I browse another computer, even if they don't have a folder password protected, why does a dialog pop up anyway? I can't seem to access any open folders. The pop up 'log in as' and password box always comes on.

In addition, others can't access my 'dropbox' folder even though I gave full access to it and didn't require any logging in. I don't want to have to go and create an account for each person, how do I get it so that anyone on the network can access my dropbox?

Thanks...

I think windows 2000 requires that anybody browsing the computer have an account on that machine (or at least have a working username/password, even if it's yours). This would make sense see how it automatically enables sharing on C: at install (at least mine does).

Oh ok... didn't know I had to set a password even for the guest account... for some reason when I try to access other comps now I don't get the log in box. 😀
