Anyone know how to get the BLANK SCREENSAVER in Win2K? Right now I just tell my Win2k systems to shutoff the video for faster processing, which works fine. However, I have a new work PC with Win2k and I need to protect my PC at night while it's running. Under NT4 I could use the blank screen saver and PW it....under Win2k I'm don't see the that option as there is NO blank screensaver listed as a choice.

Can you simply copy blankscreen.scr from a winNT machine? HELP! :)

I have an option for "Default Screen Saver" and it seems to display just a blank screen.

Is that it?

The default screensaver might be the one with the password box floating all over the place.

I have written a blank screen saver that runs ECCp in the background. If you don't give it the path to the ECCp file, then its just a blank screen saver (it won't attempt to do anythihg else but be a blank screen). It can be found at

Just copy the single file to your WINNT folder and it will work. It does require the VB runtime files, which most people already have, but can be found at:

EDit: I think you can just copy blankscreen.scr from a WinNT machine. That's the easiest way!!

Using win2k and you wanna protect your machine at night? You don't need a screen saver. Press ctrl-alt-delete and select "lock computer". Bada boom, bada bing, the pc is protected.

Yes, but you still need a password to log onto the machine after the reset! :)

I think also if you've ever used the Seti GUI it installs blank screen saver so you have the go to blank option..

That's just a guess though..

cheers,
