Registration of the DNS record '_ldap._tcp.Default-First-Site-Name._sites.dc._msdcs.werenotnormal.com. 600 IN SRV 0 100 389 quadium.werenotnormal.com.' failed with the following error:
DNS server unable to interpret format.

Ok.... yes DNS server is installed... the site IS being hosted by another company.. would that be the problem? I read the Netlogon Event 5774 (which is the error)

But I fail to see the solution there... did I miss it?

ALSO:

When I logon to the domain from my workstation, it takes quite awhile.. then says: (in my own words)

The computer tried to load a registry file, but the file was not in registry format. The system will load the default user profile.

AKA my profile is NOT ROAMING... it is stored on the local machine... I have no idea what I am doing here and probably did something wrong.

HELP!

Be a little more general in your description, but give us more details about the overall setup you're running... If this is a website that's being hosted somewhere else, but you're doing the DNS for it, it may be a problem with the DNS record that your registrar is keeping. I'm a little confused though of the setup. Enlighten me. 😉

Ok. It's a cable connection.

The modem connects to my SmoothWall router (Linux). The Router into my switch. Connected to this switch is 8 computers.

One of them is my workstation:
AMD Athlon 1.1GHz w/ 10/100 SMC NIC
512 MB PC2100 DDR

Another is the Server: (Win2k Advanced Server with all updates installled)
PIII-450 w/ 512MB PC 100
10/100 D-Link NIC

Various other machines are connected.. they are P200's, PII-266's etc... all running a variant of Win9x except one which is running Mandrake 8.1.

The only other Win2k Machine is an AMD K6/II based unit
384MB PC100
D-Link 10/100 NIC

I don't know what else to tell you!

werenotnormal.com is being hosted by a hosting dompany, therefore they have DNS addresses for the actual domain name specified in the whois.

I have not installed IIS or Apache so the machine will not serve pages.

The full name of the computer is: quadium.werenotnormal.com. I have disabled DNS for now because my error log was full.

Sounds like the DNS hosting service is running a DNS server that either doesn't support SRV records or doesn't allow illegal DNS names (of which AD makes heavy use of).

You can't, AD relies on those names. All you can do is not use AD or get the DNS hosting service to allow the illegal names.
