ok I run Win2k and have some ACPI installed which I don't know anything about except that it creates virtual irqs under IRQ 9 or unless its reserved by BIOS will take 10, 11 etc.. The thing is, I get a stop error trying to play an older game, Starcraft namely. The error is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL- and again- i have no clue what this means but upon contacting Blizzard tech support the guy says its probably because of ACPI most of my hardware uses irq 9 and starcraft will not function properly like this. Now, I had Starcraft working in my previous install of win2k, but this time around I flashed my BIOS because win2k didnt shut down properly- some incompadably APM feature or something like that. Well shutdown works now but starcraft don't.
The funny thing is, the game gets this error when I try to install it, during the file copy process. I can still play the game fof my old install (but I'm planning to format my hd again soon so its gonna go) and its not the CD because i installed it on another machine to test it.
1. Could this really be because of win2k's ACPI and if so, how do I switch to the older system where all IRQs are used by only one hardware- i think its called HAL or something?
2. If not, any have ANY idea whay this might be happening?
