Hi

Just building up a new PC for a friend.
The only problem I have is Windows 2000SP1 wont auto shut down, it gets to a window that says it is now OK to turn of your PC.

Is there a setting somewhere in windows or the BIOS that I have missed?

Thanks for any help.

I don't believe you have the acpi function in the bios enabled. It will be under the power management selection in the bios. once enabled, you will have to edit the kernel in 2k to recognize the new settings. i don't know how to do this, but i'm sure you can do a search for this and find it. after enabling acpi, if you re-install windows 2k the auto shutdown will be enabled (this is an alternative to the kernel edit)

uhmm why still use sp1 when sp2 is available? From what I've seen sp2 fixed a lot of probs--maybe even your shutdown prob...

I have SP1 on disk, and I guess you have broad band 🙂
