hello, with all the recent RPC and crazyness, i decided to upgrade my win2k server box sp2 to sp4. during the process, around 50% into it, comp freezed, and i had to reset. now, i gettin BSOD on start, last good config, and safe mode all stops with bsod. error said STOP: c0000135, unable to locate dynmaic link liburary winsrv.

i tried bootcd, and went to recovery console. copied the winsrv.dll over to system32, but didnt fix it. anyone else got some suggestion on what to do next? this is my IIS box and i need to get back in. for some reason, the recovery console wont allow me access to my other foldiers, just let me modlify c:\winnt.

You can try one recover registry, but there are no guarantees, and even if it work you will have your windows the way it was when you finish install it.

This will recovery a copy of the default registry.

Boot to recovery console.
go to folder %windows%\repair and copy the files default, security, software, system and sam to %windows\system32\config

If the problem was registry you will be able to boot into windows. If the problem was corrupted files, this won't work.

Just one more thing. The repair directory will be updated if you run the emergency disk from the backup software.

Good luck
