I've got to do a reformat/reinstall this weekend, and I still don't know whether I'm going to do WinME or Win2k prof. Anyone have any insights? What do you have on your computer, and why? I play games, but I also like the incredible stability of the NT core...*sigh* can't wait for Whistler. Anyone?
 
whats wrong win NT 5? (for you retards, thats win2k) I play every game I've ever wanted to on it, and in the last 6 months, I've only shutdown/rebooted my PC once, when I had to turn it off because I moved to a new house! :Q

ME is just Win98 third addition.. I strongly urge you not to use that crap of an OS.

Win2k. You might as well go with 98se instead of winMe if don't want the NT kernal, ME is just bloat. I love win2k though, its fast, stable, fine for gaming, and those fading menus, gotta love em 😀
 
go win2k. the only thing is that most of my drivers don't work with it. so i have to go dl a ton of drivers. sucks when you are at home and gotta dialup.

I can't (sh!tty internal dsl modem). I'm considering ME because some driver which I'm not sure of (vmm??.vxd keeps crashing, but replacing it off 3 different discs hasn't helped), but if you can use Win2k, don't even bother with WinME.
 
I switched from ME to 2k and 2k is alot faster now that the drivers have matured. I'd definetly go with 2k. Runs quake 3 FASTER than ME did.
 
dang, everyone here is win 2k, and although i;ve worked with it and like some things about it, i see nothing wrong with win ME !!! i've been running it since about 8 months ago (i think) too long to remember, but it's been rock solid and stable, runs all my hardware without a glitch and is an all round pleasnt OS experience... i used to have hella bugs in win98SE...
 
I loaded 2K a week ago... everything works great. I haven't loaded any games except Q3 yet though. Sucker seems way faster than 98 though.
