Win10 may have a new networking issue

This happened to my uncle recently. I restarted the router, I restarted his PC, nothing. ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /release did nothing and in fact failed with an error message. I had to use that netsh command to fix the problem.

Thankfully. I still remember XP asking "do you want to search for drivers online?". For the modem...

There has been "progress": Windows 10 announced -- no questions asked -- searching online for better graphics drivers. Not a word about having no network (drivers) to carry out that search with.

Anyone remember that news article about MS doing mass layoffs in its QA department? There could be some correlation there, though IMO Windows Update QA has been going downhill since MS started prepping Win7/8x for the free upgrade.

Thank you for posting about this, I had just went on site to a home office Friday and figured we'd try a different router this week "because the ISP said so" even though I never felt it was a router problem because all the wireless devices worked fine. I am returning tomorrow morning and will issue the reset commands as it is a 10 system.

edit- as a matter of convenience, I am going to try first the often overlooked built-in troubleshooting/diagnose option.

Ah, so that is where the message shows. I was wondering where the lady Friday was seeing it. I helped another user over the phone and the TCP/Winsock settings did not get it in itself, I walked him through removing and letting Device Manager re-add the WLAN adapter. It then connected just fine so I am hopeful at the on site this morning. The irony of Microsoft issuing a fix is that how are machines supposed to download the fix? Job security I guess.

It was a complete success committing those two commands and rebooting. The longest part was waiting for windows to load.. I hate working on 5400 rpm systems. Its disgusting.
