Win XP Wont Load but 2k Will

Hey I am building a new computer it is an ASRock motherboard, XP3000+ CPU, 1 GB RAM (1 x 1024) SATA 80GB HDD. I can load Windows 98 SE, ME, 2K Pro, but not XP. If I format and try to load XP clean it does the black "Setup is configuring your hardware" or whatever screen then goes to the all blue screen that says "Windows XP Setup" in the top left and it freezes there and never installs anything. If I load any other OS and do and upgrade, it gets as far as the first reboot, and freezes on the black screen with the grey dotted progress bar at the bottom. I have tried 3 different copies of XP, why wont it work!?!?!?! Any ideas?
