Win xp won't let me get rid of that folder task bar on my desktop!!!

how can i get rid of that folder task bar that is on the left hand side of the screen, it appeared 3 weeks ago when i changed my wallpaper and icons, and i can't get rid of it!!!! Thanks in advance.

Right-click on your Start button, and go to Properties. Go to the Taskbar tab, and uncheck "Show Quick Launch". Does that do the trick? Or did I misunderstand what you were referring to?

yeah it is a long white bat that takes up my left hand side of my wallpaper on the desktop, it has three menus-folder task, other places and details. I have tried everything to get rid of it because it is blocking my wallpaper.

Try to pinpoint it by looking at the programs you have running by using th three-finger salute (Ctrl-Alt-Del). If you can find it, you can also prevent it from starting up with Windows if you remove it from the Startup folder or, if it's not there, using msconfig.
