when my PC POST's it says 512megs for memory. I was poking around in XP and System Information is reporting 256 megs of physical memory with 153 avail.

MB is th Gigabyte GF3, memory is Corsair XMS Pro 1 512 meg stick. What else can I check in XP to see what kind of memory is reporting?

Right click on My computer, go to Properties and it will tell you the total system memory.

Sounds like you might have a bad stick of RAM or it's just possibly not seated right. Or you actually have a 256MB stick, not 512MB. Do you have a videocard that's onboard that would be sharing the RAM? When you say you have 153MB available, is that by looking at the taskmanager's performance tab?

forgot to mention, under my computer properties it's showing 512 megs. I don't know what to think.
