Win XP SP2 fouls up Photoshop: Motherboard?

I've contacted Adobe, Microsoft and Intel. None have helped resolve the issue. I'm using an 865 PERLX mobo
with 1 gig Centon 3200 RAM. I've done everything under the sun to get this
to work, that is, have SP2 installed and be able to use Photoshop. This is a newly
rebuilt machine, all new parts except the case. I've reinstalled XP and run
Pshop, but I can't remember whether or not I installed Zone Alarm first. The
front runners for issues are possible Zone Alarm and possibly some kind
of glitch on the motherboard. The only 'new' things I"ve done at this point
are update the BIOS and the chipset drivers. I'm in no mood to run t hrough another
install to find it still crashes Pshop. Has anybody heard of something odd about
this board, SP2 and Photoshop? Is it worth changing mobos to see if that's where
the problem lies? Since I just had the shop do this upgrade, I can get them to
switch mobos without charge (except different price of mobo).

Thanks

Done it. New Centon Gemini matched 512 sticks. My RAM is okay. This is so weird. Photoshop is the only program that crashes.
No, it's not the video card.
I've swapped everything and tested everything. I don't have any games so I don't know how they would respond.

After a couple tries, I just went back to SP1 and everything works fine.

Exactly how does PS crash? It's not getting thrown out for a "No-Execute segment" violation, is it?

What happens is I go to a selection tool, like a lasso. Begin to lasso, say draw a circle; the program hangs and the lasso
doesn't complete. Sometimes it happens quickly, sometimes after three or four strokes. I had a phone tech session with
Adobe and he couldn't figure it out. The prog just hangs there, maybe recovers after twenty seconds, or sometimes
'stops responding' and I have to shut it down. In effect completely useless.
