Win XP Shutdown problem

I built a system for a friend using an Asus P4B mobo with a P4-1.6GHz CPU, Micron 256 MB PC133 CAS2 SDRAM, WIndows XP Home Ed. O/S (other specs available if needed). The system works fine, except that when attempting system shutdown, Windows shuts down apparently properly but the power doesn't go off and the system reboots itself automatically (no, I am not clicking the "restart" icon!)

Any suggestions? The BIOS has been updated to version 1008, the latest version posted on Asus web site. Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem with xp home I dont have an Asus mobo its some wide spread thing im not sure how to fix it though. To shut mine off I just push the power button on the case and it starts to shut down. Its the only way I know how to shut it down it dosent just kill it, it goes through the same routine as it would by clicking shut down button on the start bar. Maybe somebody can help us?

Thanks Bacillus, that link helped me solve the problem - XP doesn't co-exist happily with Easy CD Creator / Direct CD version 4, but the patch solved it. Also, I was using a Logitech Internet keyboard OEM model Y-SB3 and the Key Commander software was incompatible... Had to replace the keyboard - don't you just LOVE Microsof***
