Win XP RAM limit

I'm thinking about taking advantage of a RAM sale and upgrading my Win XP system to 4 GB of RAM. I know that Win XP won't be able to recognize all 4 GB, but I'll need it when I switch to Win 7. It'll also help with my current system performance since I only have 1 GB right now and do a lot of multitasking. Will my system still run stably with 4 GB on Win XP, or will this cause problems? As long as my system will run fine, I don't mind if the OS only recognizes ~3.2 GB RAM.

As long as the RAM sticks themselves are stable, there should be no stability problems with XP and 4 GB of RAM installed.
