umm i've seen this here b4.. was wondering when shutting down how do you force windows to close everything and shut down instead of prompting you to close them b4 shutdown?

BTW i've posted this in OS forum but no ones there it seems..

no no, i remember there was a thing you could click to force xp to shut down with out asking you to close stuff. i know how to get into tsk manager. say i click shutdown right? it'll start then notice that something is running like s@h or ms outlook; those are the two im having problems with. then it'll prompt and say please close blah blah blah b4 shutting down.

i remember this was a problem when i first ran s@h on my other pc.. now i'm having the same problem.

are you talking about conagent ??.......go to find files ....enter conagent.......right click on conagent file and select properties........click on the misc tab.......where it has a box to check for "termination" for warn if still active......make sure it is NOT checked......should fix the seti problem......

Just walked in from the clubs and getting something to eat...in no condition to answer this question but I know there is a registry key you can modify to do what you're talking about. I'll check back in the AM...if I forget PM me.

Ok, never mind I remembered.

Open regedit and got to HKU/.Default/ControlPanel/Desktop and change autoendtasks to 1. Bounce the machines and you should be fine.

I'm having a minor alcohol-related lapse of reasoning but this should take effect for all users. Once the machine comes back up go to HKCU/Control Panel/Desktop and verify that it changed it. If not change it there as well. Changing the .default user may only change any new profiles created on the machine.

I won't remember typing this in the morning. :D

hehe... SA sounds like he had a fun night! :)

Anyway... If you're running Win9x and talking about the DOS window that prompts you when you close down Windows you'll have to edit the conagent.exe file propertites. I don't have a Win9x handy but it's pretty easy to find in the properties on that file. I believe it's located in \Windows\system.
