okay.. just got back and seen you guys got a race going.. so for the race i'm settin up two 1gig systems... both run XP pro.

my question is when those systems are runnin for a while, they tend to revert back to the switch user screen when you "wake" them up, although it says the user is still logged on does the app still run while its in that log on screen?

well if not i need to know what i gotta change to get keep setidriver runnin..

since i wont be home much i will be caching about 150-200WUs on each system for the race and just transmit at the end of the month.

I think SETI would still be running alright however I would test it and see, that is the easiest way to know. If it doesn't then you would need to install it as a service which is currently being discussed here.

If I remember correctly in windows XP when you log out, whatever one user has running stays running, but since I'm not 100% sure about this. The best thing to do is run it as a service.

You can logout of your account and any programs running will stay running, until either the system is rebooted (will tell if another user has a program running), 2. logon back in and shut down seti.

okay cool.. it works.. already got 1 WU finished on each computer... now i can contribute to the cause 🙂 havent had much time to work on the systems after i put XP on them since it was finals week when i did it.

the computers are on 24/7 unless power goes out. they are the "family" computers that everyone uses so whoever wants to get on can just wiggle the mouse and poof they're on.

thanks for the help, hopefully i'll be able to help you guys out with my 2 1gig machines.

When you say "Wake them up" do you mean coming from the monitor turning itself off, or from system standby?

Make sure the power options are set to only turn off the monitor, and never sleep or turn off the HDD 🙂

Nice to have you back for the race 🙂
