Win XP Pro folder sharing question

I have a computer(machine 1) on the network with files in a folder that need to be shared to only one other computer(machine 2). I set permissions so that only the local users can access the folder, but no one on the network can access it. I don't know how to add access to only one other user on another computer(machine 2). I added that user's username to the local accounts of machine 1 but I think that machine 2 is sending its login information as MACHINE2\userB instead of MACHINE1\userB like machine 1 is looking for.

Any help? Was that totally confusing?

not totally confusing ;)

The way to do it in a workgroup enviroment is to make sure the usernames and passwords match on both machines (so machine1\userb's password needs to be the same as machine2\userb). Once the usernames and passwords match you give access to your local account (userb) and the remote account should be able to access it.

Correct. Make sure you've unchecked "Simple File Sharing" on both machines too, or they'll be expecting/trying to use Guest logins.

I have both computers with the same username and password, but I only have simple sharing disabled on the host PC. I will try it later and let ya know.

The one machine was win XP home, so I couldn't disable simple file sharing. Setting the user accounts/passwords equally did grant access.
