win xp pro 2 partitions

OS will look for drivers to use in certain directories.

Use the storage partion to store the installation application for the driver.

do you mean when downloading drivers, and it asks me where to install to....then use the storage partition as the destination directory?

When you download a driver, save it to your storage directory. Then when you run the install, point it to your system drive.

Drivers always install to the Windows partition; you have no choice in the matter. OTOH you are free to store their source installers anywhere you please.

are you saying that when i run the install and it asks me what directory to install it to, if i pick the storage partition, the relevant files are extracted to the C partition?

Im looking now at my E:\NVIDIA\nForceWin2KXP\3.13 :

AudioDrv, Display, GART, MemCtl, data1, data2, layout bin, setup installer, AudioUtl, Ethernet, IDE, SMBus, data1.hdr, ikernel, readme, setup inx file, setup.iss, are all in my E storage partition.

E:\NVIDIA\Win2KXP\66.93 has:

advanced.tv, aliagp, cad.tv, data1, data1.hdr, data2, dcc.tv, default.tv, engine32, finance.tv, dpqvdisp, keystone, layout, modes, nv4_disp, nv4_mini, nv4disp2, nvAppBar, NvApps.xm, nvcod, NvCpl, NvCPL.HL, setup.exe......etc.

you get the idea.

so are the relevant files installed into the C partition regardless of directory that I choose? Everything's working fine so far.
